Cloth Diapers Plus Baby Wipe = Easy Clean

I am what you would call the Convenient Environmentalist.  I want the fast, easy, convenience of throwaway items but with an environmental edge.  When Annabelle was born, I purchased Fuzzy Bunz cloth diapers.  They are easy to use, it snaps on easy, they are adjustable for size and they go right into the wash.  EZ PEASY.  Except when she poops.  Then I have to use a spoon and clean up is harder so after a month I stopped using the cloth diapers.  Hence, my term, the Convenient Environmentalist.  After a month of using Whole Food diapers and feeling guilty about it, I came up with the idea of popping a dry flushable baby wipe on top of the cloth portion of the diaper.  Now, I just toss the dirty wipe into the toilet and {yay} I can go back to my cloth diapers because using them is easy again and I don’t have to spoon crap off into the toilet.

Other Things to Consider:

  • I highly recommend having a wipe handy when you get ready to change the diapers too as it sticks to the bum when you get ready to change.
  • Also, I don’t know about the health impacts of using a wipe in the cloth diaper every single time.  I only use the cloth diapers two or three times a day and we use disposables for most naps and night time.
  • In addition, I have also bought the safest/organic/free of perfumes type of wipes available since they are directly touching private parts.  If you have any concerns, please check with your pediatrician.

Cloth Diapers with a dry flushable wipe

If you’ve always wanted to dry cloth diapers, but are exasperated by the expense and hassle try this:

$35.00  1 package G diapers on Amazon or you can buy the intro pack at Whole Foods about the same price.
$10.00  1 package Fuzzy Bunz Large inserts
$  5.00  1 package flushable wipes

Use the great G Diaper covers and where you are supposed to place the paper insert, place the Fuzzy Bunz cloth insert instead.  Cover the insert with a DRY flushable wipe and then diaper baby.  My babe doesn’t have big poops yet, so I haven’t experienced a blowout and if the wipe cover will work.  If you have a suggestion or comment, please let a comment!

  3. Pretty much the same idea as these: http://www.diapers.com/p/kushies-flushable-biodegradable-diaper-liners-1-roll-6472

    And if the baby is exclusively breastfed, then the poop is water soluble- so it can all go in the wash!

  5. My friend uses cloth diapers and she loves Fuzi Bunz. I'd definitely do it if I were a SAHM!
